How to Remove Foundation from Clothes

Learn how to clean up liquid and powder foundation with our complete guide

Touching up your makeup and some foundation spilled onto your nice top? Whether it just rubbed off on your shirt or stained your clothes a while ago, you can remove foundation from your clothing pretty easily with the right cleaning products. Liquid and powder foundations require slightly different cleaning methods, but we’ve got everything you need to know to clean up. Keep reading, and we’ll walk you through how to get rid of those pesky stains no matter what kind of foundation you were using.

[Edit]Things You Should Know

  • Work shaving cream into stains left by oil-free liquid foundation. Add a few drops of rubbing alcohol before washing your clothes for added stain-fighting power.
  • Treat oily foundation stains with dish soap and liquid laundry detergent before washing the garment.
  • Blow powder foundation off your garments, and treat any residual stains with a solution of water and vinegar.

[Edit]Steps

[Edit]Oil-Free Foundation Stains

  1. Scoop up excess foundation with a butter knife or spoon. If you just spilled the foundation, use the edge of your knife or spoon to scrape as much off as you can so it doesn’t set into the fabric. Try to avoid rubbing the foundation in so the stain doesn’t get any bigger.[1]
Remove Foundation from Clothes Step 1 Version 2.jpg
    • Alternatively, try scooping or blotting up the excess foundation with some paper towel.
  2. Work foam shaving cream into the stain. Use a foam shaving cream rather than gel since it removes the makeup more effectively. Squeeze the shaving cream directly onto the stain and cover it completely. Let the shaving cream sit for about 5–10 minutes to work its magic before rubbing it into the fabric with your fingers. When you’re finished, rinse the shaving cream out with cool water.[2]

    • If the tag on your garment says “dry clean only,” then avoid trying to pretreat the stain and have it dry-cleaned right away.
  3. Add a few drops of rubbing alcohol to the shaving cream for stubborn stains. If shaving cream doesn’t do the trick on its own, apply it again to the stain and sprinkle in 3–4 drops of rubbing alcohol. Rub the shaving cream and alcohol mixture into your clothing and let it sit for about 5 minutes. After that, rinse the fabric out with cold water.[3]

    • Test the rubbing alcohol on an inconspicuous spot of your clothing first to ensure that it doesn’t damage the fabric.
  4. Pretreat residual stains with heavy-duty laundry detergent. Choose a liquid detergent labeled for treating stains so you have the best chance of getting the foundation out of your clothes. Wet the stain with cool water and rub the detergent into the fabric. Cover the entire stain with the detergent and leave it to soak in for 5–10 minutes.[4]

    • If you only have powder laundry detergent, mix it with enough water to make a thick paste and apply it to the stain.
  5. Wash the stained item as you normally would. If the garment is machine-washable, toss it into your washer using the standard cycle. If you have more delicate clothing that isn’t machine-safe, then wash it by hand instead.[5]
Remove Foundation from Clothes Step 5 Version 2.jpg
    • Let your clothes air-dry rather than putting them in a dryer since the heat could make the stain set in further.
    • If you still notice a foundation stain on your clothes, try retreating it with shaving cream and detergent again. If you still can’t get it out, then take the garment to a professional cleaner.

[Edit]Oil-Based Foundation Stains

  1. Remove excess foundation with a spoon. If you just spilled foundation on your clothes, scrape the foundation off the fabric with the edge of your spoon. Try to lift up as much of the foundation as you can so it doesn’t set deeper into the fabric.[6]

    • Avoid rubbing the foundation into the fabric since it will only make the stain larger and more difficult to remove.
  2. Blot the area with a clean, dry paper towel. Gently press the paper towel onto the treated area to soak up any foundation that soaked into the fabric. Lift the towel straight up without rubbing or wiping the stain so it doesn’t smear. If there are still stain marks, use a fresh piece of paper towel to blot at it again.[7]
Remove Foundation from Clothes Step 7 Version 2.jpg
  3. Work water and liquid dish soap into the stain. Wet the stain with cool water and squirt the dish detergent directly onto the fabric. Rub the dish soap in with your fingers to clean the stain and let it sit for 5–10 minutes. After that, either rinse the soap out or toss your clothes right into the washer.[8]

    • Dish soap is made to help cut through grease and oil, so it can help break down and remove the foundation from your clothes.
  4. Pre-treat stubborn stains with liquid laundry detergent. Pour a coin-sized amount of liquid laundry detergent directly onto the foundation stain. Use your fingers or a clean cloth to work the detergent deeper into the stain, and let it sit for about 10 minutes before you wash it.[9]
Remove Foundation from Clothes Step 9 Version 2.jpg
    • If you’re cleaning delicate clothing, check the label on the detergent to make sure it’s suitable for the fabric. Test the detergent in an inconspicuous spot if you’re worried about it causing any damage to your clothes.
  5. Wash the garment as you normally would. Once you’ve treated the stain with detergent, toss your clothes in the washing machine and run a standard cycle. For delicate fabrics, take your time to gently hand-wash them to remove the stain. When you’re finished, hang the clothes up to air-dry.[10]
Remove Foundation from Clothes Step 10 Version 2.jpg
    • If you still notice a stain on your clothes, try washing your clothes with dish soap or laundry detergent again until it lightens up.

[Edit]Powder Foundation Stains

  1. Blow away the excess powder. Rather than brushing or rubbing the powder foundation into the fabric, blow away the excess powder with your mouth. If you have a larger spill, then use a blow-dryer on a low setting to get the foundation off your clothes.[11]
Remove Foundation from Clothes Step 11 Version 2.jpg
  2. Work a few drops of liquid detergent to the stain. Wet the stain with a bit of cold water before applying a coin-sized amount of laundry detergent to the fabric. Rub the detergent into the entire stain using your fingers or a clean cloth. After that, wet the area with a damp sponge or washcloth to get the soap out.[12]
Remove Foundation from Clothes Step 12 Version 2.jpg
    • Blot the stained spot dry with a clean towel after you rinse it out.
  3. Try a vinegar and water solution for a stubborn stain. Combine equal parts distilled white vinegar and cool water in a bowl. Wet a sponge or washcloth in the solution and blot it onto the foundation stain on your clothes. Gently work the solution into the stain with your fingers and let it soak in for about 5–10 minutes. After that, just rinse the fabric out with cool water.[13]

    • Vinegar can sometimes make fabric dyes bleed, so test the solution on an inconspicuous spot to ensure the colors don’t run.
  4. Wash the clothes as normal to fully treat the stain. If your clothes are machine-safe, then put the garment in your washer on the standard cycle with detergent. For more delicate clothes, hand-wash the stains in your sink. After you thoroughly wash your clothes, hang them up so they can air-dry completely.[14]
Remove Foundation from Clothes Step 14 Version 2.jpg
    • If you’re still not able to get the stains out or if your clothes are labeled “dry clean only,” then take them into a professional cleaner.

How to Make Your Phone Impossible to Track

Make it nearly impossible for hackers and other third-parties to track your phone

Do you want to make it nearly impossible to track your phone? In today's society, most people are becoming increasingly reliant on their smartphones. Unfortunately, most modern smartphones have a number of ways of allowing other to track you and your information, from GPS tracking to cell tower connections, and apps and cookies that track your activities. There are a number of ways hackers, advertisers, apps and services, and government agencies can track your phone. While it may not be possible to make your phone 100% untraceable, there are a number of easy steps you can take to make it much much more difficult to track your phone. This wikiHow article teaches you how to make your phone almost impossible to track.

[Edit]Things You Should Know

  • Your phone can be tracked using GPS locations, cell signals, internet activity, apps and cookies, and other means.
  • Making your phone untraceable is a multifaceted problem that requires many solutions.
  • The most effective way to stop your phone from being tracked is to turn it off.

[Edit]Steps

[Edit]Disable GPS Tracking and Bluetooth

  1. Turn off location services. Location services are the GPS functionality that your smartphone uses to track your location. While this can be useful when using maps and navigating to a specific location, it also allows apps and services to track your exact location and store that information. Hackers and law enforcement can also use this information to track your location. You can easily prevent this by turning off location services on your phone. Use the following steps to do so:
Make Your Phone Impossible to Track Step 1.jpg
    • iPhone:
      • Open the Settings app.
      • Scroll down and tap Privacy.
      • Tap Location Services
      • Tap the toggle switch across from "Location Services" at the top.
    • Android:
      • Swipe down from the top of the screen.
      • Tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner to open Settings.
      • Scroll down and tap Location.
      • Tap the toggle switch at the top to turn Location off.
  2. Disable Bluetooth. If you are not using Bluetooth, you may want to disable it. Not only will this make it harder to track your phone's Bluetooth radio signal, but it will also save a little bit of battery life. Use the following steps to disable Bluetooth:
Make Your Phone Impossible to Track Step 2.jpg
    • iPhone:
      • Open the Settings app.
      • Tap Bluetooth
      • Tap the toggle switch across from "Bluetooth."
    • Android: [1]
      • Swipe down from the top of the screen.
      • Tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner to open Settings (or tap the Bluetooth icon in the Quick Access menu).
      • Tap Connections (Samsung Galaxy) or tap Connected Devices followed by Connection Preferences (stock Android).
      • Tap Bluetooth
      • Tap the toggle switch across from Bluetooth

[Edit]Use Airplane Mode

  1. Turn on Airplane mode. Airplane mode disables Location Services, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and any cellular data connections. While this feature is designed for airplane travel, engaging this feature when you are not using any of these features is a quick and easy way to prevent your phone from being tracked. Use the following step to engage Airplane mode:
Make Your Phone Impossible to Track Step 3.jpg
    • iPhone:
      • Swipe down from the upper-right corner of the screen.
      • Tap the icon that resembles an airplane.
    • Android:
      • Swipe down from the top of the screen (you may need to swipe down twice to view the entire Quick Access menu).
      • Tap the icon that resembles an airplane.

[Edit]Use a VPN

  1. Subscribe to a VPN service. VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. It is a service you can use to obscure your IP address, prevent your location from being tracked, and prevent your internet service provider from viewing your internet activity. To use a VPN, you will need to sign up for a service. Most good services will require a subscription fee. Once you subscribe to a service, you can download the app. Then you can usually turn the VPN on with the tap of a button.
Make Your Phone Impossible to Track Step 4.jpg
    • Worth Noting: While a VPN may prevent your location from being tracked via your IP address, it does not prevent your location from being tracked via your location services, or cellular data. You will still need to take other precautions to prevent your phone from being tracked. Additionally, while a VPN may prevent your internet service provider from tracking your internet activity, the VPN service provider may still be able to track your internet activity.
    • No-logs VPN Services: When shopping for a VPN service, it's important that the service does not keep usage logs, which could be used to track your online activity. Most VPN services claim that they do not keep logs, but you should be skeptical of this claim. At the bare minimum, VPNs need to keep connection logs for maintenance and optimization purposes. These logs could be used to track when you connect to the service and for how long. Furthermore, many VPNs claim they do not keep logs, yet were able to provide logs to law enforcement when subpoenaed. The best way to find out if a VPN keeps logs is to research what happens when they are subpoenaed by law enforcement. Were they able to provide logs when subpoenaed, or did law enforcement come up empty-handed?[2]
    • Some VPN services you can check out include; Proton VPN, NordVPN, ExpressVPN, and Surfshark.

[Edit]Check and Disable App Permissions

  1. Check your app permissions and disable permissions for apps that track your personal data. When you install new apps on your phone, they will usually ask if you want to allow these apps to access certain phone features, such as location services, contacts, cellphone storage space, etc. You should always be careful about which apps you install on your phone. If you are installing an app, check what permissions it wants to access. If you don't want it to access something, tap Don't allow. Uninstall any apps you no longer use. Use the following steps to check app permissions and remove permissions you don't want your apps to have:
Make Your Phone Impossible to Track Step 5.jpg
    • iPhone:
      • Open the Settings app.
      • Scroll down and tap an app.
      • Tap the toggle switch across from any permissions you want to turn off.
      • Tap Tracking at the top.
      • Tap Never or While Using the App
    • Android:
      • Swipe down from the top of the screen.
      • Tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner to open Settings.
      • Scroll down and tap Apps.
      • Tap an app you want to see the permissions for.
      • Tap Permissions
      • Check the permissions listed under "Allowed."
      • Tap any permissions you don't want the app to have.
      • Tap Deny

[Edit]Use a Private Web Browser and Search Engine

  1. Download and use the TOR browser. The TOR browser is a private web browser that masks your IP address by encrypting it and running it through a series of volunteer-run relays, which obscure the origin of where your IP address comes from. It also deletes your history and cookies when you are done using TOR. The TOR browser was originally developed by the US Naval Research Lab as a way to communicate with overseas assets online anonymously.[3] You can download the TOR browser for free from the App Store on iPhone, or from the Google Play Store on Android.
Make Your Phone Impossible to Track Step 6.jpg
  2. Use anonymous search engines. In addition to using the TOR browser, you will also want to use an anonymous search engine. Popular search engines like Google track your internet searches. To keep from being tracked, use anonymous search engines. These search engines claim they do not track or store any user data. There are a few you can choose from. These include; DuckDuckGo, StartPage, and Gigablast.
Make Your Phone Impossible to Track Step 7.jpg

[Edit]Scan and Remove Spyware

  1. Use an antivirus scanner to remove spyware. If you suspect your phone is being tracked, you may want to download an antivirus scanner and scan for viruses, malware, and spyware. If anything is detected, make sure the malware is quarantined and deleted. If you are using an Android phone, make sure you have Play Protect turned on. You can turn it on in the Google Play Store app. Antivirus apps you can sign up for include Malwarebytes, Bitdefender, and AVG.
Make Your Phone Impossible to Track Step 8.jpg

[Edit]Lock Your SIM Card

  1. Lock your SIM card in your phone's settings. Your SIM card is a small chip that is installed in your phone by your mobile carrier. Each phone has a unique SIM card, which your carrier uses to control what services your phone has access to. Your SIM card can be used to track your mobile phone. To prevent this, make sure your SIM card is locked. To lock your SIM card, you need to know your SIM card PIN. If you have not set a SIM card PIN, you will need to contact your mobile carrier to find out the default SIM card PIN. Warning: If you enter the incorrect PIN three times, you will be locked out of your phone. Use the following steps to lock your SIM card:[4]
Make Your Phone Impossible to Track Step 9.jpg
    • iPhone
      • Open the Settings app.
      • Tap Cellular.
      • Tap SIM PIN
      • Enter the default SIM PIN.
      • Make sure the toggle switch next to SIM PIN is turned on.
    • Android:
      • Swipe down from the top of the screen.
      • Tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner to open Settings.
      • Tap Security (stock Android) or Biometrics & Security (Samsung Galaxy).
      • Tap Other Security Settings
      • Tap Set up SIM card lock.
      • Tap the toggle switch across from "Lock SIM Card."
      • Enter the default PIN and tap OK.

[Edit]Opt Out of Information Sharing with your Carrier

  1. Stop your mobile carrier from tracking your data. Just like Google and Facebook, your mobile carrier can collect personal information about you and sell it. Luckily, most mobile carriers allow you to opt-out of information sharing. Some even allow you to delete the data they've already collected about you. Use one of the following steps to opt out and delete your personal data with your mobile carrier:[5]

      • Click Get Started below "Learn more about "Do Not Sell" setting."
      • Select a T-Mobile service you have.
      • Click Do not sell my personal information.

[Edit]Install all the Latest Updates

  1. Make sure your phone is up-to-date. Keeping your mobile phone up-to-date is a good way to ensure that all security risks and exploits within your phone's operating system are patched out and removed: Use the following steps to update your Android phone, or iPhone.
Make Your Phone Impossible to Track Step 11.jpg
    • iPhone:
      • Open the Settings app.
      • Tap General
      • Tap Software Update.
      • Tap Download and Install.
    • Android:

      • Tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner to open Settings.
      • Tap System.
      • Tap System Update
      • Tap Download and install.

[Edit]Avoid Using Public Wi-Fi

  1. Do not connect to unprotected public Wi-Fi. Public Wi-Fi, such as the kind you find in coffee shops and airports, usually isn't very secure. Not only do they often collect personal data, but they are also vulnerable to network intrusions and malware attacks. It's best to avoid using public Wi-Fi whenever possible, especially if there is no password protection. If you must use public Wi-Fi, make sure you are using a VPN.
Make Your Phone Impossible to Track Step 12.jpg

[Edit]Turn Your Phone Off

  1. Power your phone off when you are not using it. The truth is, there is no way to make your phone 100% untraceable. You can only make it harder for your phone to be traced. The most effective way to prevent your phone from being traced is to turn it off when not in use. To turn it off, press and hold the power button, then tap Power off or slide the slider bar at the top of the screen. Even with your phone turned off, it can still be traced to its last known location using cellular data, GPS tracking, or the IMEI number.[6]
Make Your Phone Impossible to Track Step 13.jpg

[Edit]How to Tell If Your Phone is Being Tracked

  1. There are a few ways you can tell if your phone is being tracked. The following are a few signs your phone may be being tracked:
Make Your Phone Impossible to Track Step 14.jpg
    • Your phone is overheating. It's normal for your phone to get a little hot when you are doing activities that use a lot of your phone's resources (such as gaming or video editing). However, if you find your phone is getting excessively hot while doing mundane activities or while not in use, that could be a sign that there is spyware or malware running in the background.
    • Your battery is running out quickly. Again, it's not unusual for your battery to drain quickly when you are doing resource-heavy activities, or if your phone battery is getting old. However, if your phone is fairly new, or you find the battery is draining quickly all of the sudden, that could be a sign that you have spyware or malware on your phone.
    • Your data usage is higher than normal. Spyware collects data and sends it to a hacker or another third-party. If you receive a bill for excessive data usage, or you check your mobile account and notice your phone is using much more data than it use to, that could be a sign that your data is being tracked.
    • Your phone lights up or restarts unexpectedly. Spyware and malware may cause your phone to glitch, light up, or restart unexpectedly. If your phone restarts automatically or lights up when you don't get a notification, that could be a sign that there is spyware running in the background.
    • Your phone is running slow. If your phone is lagging and running slower than usual—even during normal usage—that could be a sign that your phone has spyware or malware running in the background.

How to Make Your Dog Stop Sleeping in Your Bed

It may not seem like a big deal to let your dog cuddle with you at bedtime but allowing your dog to sleep in your bed often leads to other behavioral problems. These can include disobedience, acting out and being overly possessive. In fact, letting your dog sleep in your bed could undermine your leadership in the household and give your dog the impression that she is in charge.[1]

[Edit]Steps

[Edit]Establishing Your Dog’s Sleeping Area

  1. Buy a dog bed at your local pet store.[2] When buying dog beds, you really do get what you pay for. Flimsy and cheap pet beds will fall apart easily and last your dog only a few months. The better the quality of the bed, the longer it will last.[3] When choosing a dog bed, you should consider your dog’s sleeping style, her age, and your budget. There are several types of beds available, including:[4].
Make Your Dog Stop Sleeping in Your Bed Step 2 Version 7.jpg
    • Orthopedic dog beds: Orthopedic dog beds are long mattresses that provide orthopedic support. They are best for older dogs and provide extra cushioning. They are also roomy, so if your dog likes to spread out when she sleeps, this could be a good option.
    • Donut (bolster) dog beds: This type of dog bed is a cushion with a raised side that makes it look like a donut. These are good for dogs who like to curl up when they sleep.
    • Pillow or cushion dog beds: These are simple beds made of a large pillow or cushion and are good for dogs who like to spread out when they sleep.
    • 'Heated dog beds: If you live in a colder climate or have an old or small dog that doesn't retain body heat well, a heated dog bed is a good option to keep your dog warm.
  2. Watch how your dog sleeps. This will help you find a dog bed that will be comfortable for her as she sleeps. Pay close attention to your dog's body language as she sleeps.[5]
Make Your Dog Stop Sleeping in Your Bed Step 1 Version 7.jpg
    • If your dog likes to stretch out while sleeping, go for a comfortable rectangular mattress.
    • If your dog like to curl up in a tight ball, an enclosed round or oval bed will be the best fit for her.
    • Older or arthritic dogs may feel more comfortable with a memory foam mattress.
  3. Place the bed in a comfortable spot, like the living room or in your bedroom. Though you want to encourage your dog to stay out of your bed and in her bed, you should also make sure her sleeping area is in a comfortable spot that she is familiar with.[6]
Make Your Dog Stop Sleeping in Your Bed Step 3 Version 5.jpg
    • The bed should be in an area that is room temperature and not near a draft or an open door. Look for a spot that is in a dark or shaded area of the room.
  4. Put her favorite toys near the bed. This should make the bed more appealing to her. You can also place a shirt that smells like you on her bed to encourage her to lay down on her bed.[7]
Make Your Dog Stop Sleeping in Your Bed Step 4 Version 5.jpg
  5. Set up a sleeping place for your dog in a kennel or crate if she is a new puppy.[8] It’s very important establish his sleeping area right away so she is not tempted to try to lay on your bed. Line the kennel or crate with newspaper in case of any nighttime accidents. Create an elevated area at the back of the sleep area, such as a dog bed or pillow, so your puppy is sleeping in a clean area of the kennel.

[Edit]Training Your Dog to Stay In Her Bed

  1. Take your dog for a long walk before bed. This should wear her out and make her have less energy to fight you when it’s time for bed.
Make Your Dog Stop Sleeping in Your Bed Step 6 Version 5.jpg
  2. Keep your dog on her leash and lead her to her bed. You can also hold out a treat to give her encouragement to go over to the bed. This will train her to connect the bed with a positive reward. Never pick up your dog and place her in her bed or she will associate being there with a negative experience. [9]
Make Your Dog Stop Sleeping in Your Bed Step 7 Version 5.jpg
  3. Command her to “Go to your bed”.[10] Be clear with your command. Give her a treat only when she lies down on the bed.[11]
Make Your Dog Stop Sleeping in Your Bed Step 8 Version 5.jpg
    • Every time she gets up out of the bed, say “No” and calmly walk her back to her bed. Then, repeat the command “Go to your bed”. Increase the amount of time after you say the command and then give her a reward only if she lies down in the bed.
    • Eventually your dog will learn the command and understand that she will be rewarded if she stays in her bed.
  4. Ignore her whining during the night. She may give you big sad eyes as you try to go to sleep, or vocalize her displeasure at her new sleeping arrangement by whining or moaning during the night. But avoid giving in to these displays as it will only reinforce her behavior and prevent her from getting used to her bed.
Make Your Dog Stop Sleeping in Your Bed Step 9 Version 6.jpg
    • Yelling at your dog as she whines may only make her whine louder. If the whining continues after you have ignored it for several minutes, ask your dog if she wants to go outside. If she responds and becomes excited, take her out. Make the trip feel purposeful, a time for your pup to go to the bathroom, not play time.
    • If you don’t think your dog needs to go to the bathroom and is whining due to being in her bed, continue to ignore her whining. Do not try to punish her behavior as this will actually reinforce her behavior. Punishing her will show her you are paying attention to her behavior.
    • Be prepared for the whining to get worse before your dog eventually stops whining. But commit to ignoring her as it will help her get used to the bed in the long run.
  5. Correct your dog if she jumps on your bed.[12] This is an important step to establishing boundaries for your dog and reinforcing the importance of her sleeping on her own bed.[13]
Make Your Dog Stop Sleeping in Your Bed Step 10 Version 5.jpg
    • If your dog jumps on your bed, tell her “Go to your bed”. If your dog does not move, either pick her up and place her on the floor or gently nudge her off the bed while saying “No.”
  6. Use positive reinforcement to correct your dog’s behavior.[14] Many dog owners use a spray bottle of water to punish bad behavior in their dog, including sleeping on their bed or on other furniture. But positive reinforcement, where you reward your dog for good behavior rather than punish her for bad behavior, can also be an effective way to train her.
Make Your Dog Stop Sleeping in Your Bed Step 11 Version 5.jpg
    • Praise your dog if she goes to her bed without you leading her or if she lies down on her bed after you command “Go to bed”. This will help her associate the bed with rewards and praise rather than punishment or negative feelings.
  7. Practice inviting your dog to her bed. Never allow your dog to enter your room or crawl into bed uninvited. This will give her a sense that she is in charge of bedtime. Make sure she only acts on command and when you wake up, make sure she waits calmly for your command before getting out of bed.
Make Your Dog Stop Sleeping in Your Bed Step 12 Version 5.jpg

[Edit]Understanding the Benefits of a Dog Free Bed

  1. Establish your dominance over your dog by keeping her out of your bed. One of the ways dogs determine hierarchy is through physical height. The higher-ranking animal will position herself higher than the lower-ranking one. So when you allow your dog to sleep on the bed next to you, she could infer that she is above or equal to you.[15]

    • Maintaining your dominance over your dog is important because without establishing your leaderships, your dog could be disobedient or act out. If you have indicated that you do not have control over your dog, she may take it as license to act badly.[16]
  2. Keep your other pets happy and safe. If your household has more than one pet, such as another dog or cats, keeping your dog out of your bed will also set an example for your other pets. Creating separate beds for all your pets will also allow you to get a good night’s sleep without having to worry about rolling over and crushing a furry friend.[17]

  3. Eliminate the risk of catching a disease or illness. If your dog plays with, steps in, or eats feces (her own or other animals’) she could transmit dog-to-human bacteria or parasites like salmonella or heartworms. Most dogs step in all kinds of things, so the likelihood of your dog carrying bacteria you may not want all over your sheets is high.[18]

    • If you suffer from asthma or other allergies, having your dog’s fur in your bed may make these issues worse. Keeping your dog in a separate bed or sleeping area will benefit not only your pup, but also your ability to get a good night’s sleep.

    • Cayenne pepper can be added for some extra kick and a small metabolism boost.

[Edit]Brewing the Tea

  1. Bring the water to a boil in a small saucepan or kettle.

  2. Add the turmeric directly to the boiling water. Add any optional ingredients, except the milk, at this time. If using an herbal tea bag, do not add it yet.

  3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes. Simmering happens at a lower temperature than boiling. Review the process here: How to Simmer

  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Do this carefully. The contents of the pan will be very hot! Use an oven mitt or a folded to kitchen towel to protect your hand.

[Edit]Serving the Tea

  1. Strain the tea. Pour the tea through a sieve set inside a mug or a teapot. This will help remove the solids and yield a smooth tea.

    • Use caution when straining the tea. Remember, the liquid is going to be hot.
  2. Add lemon and/or honey. You can do this to the entire batch or, if you’re making multiple servings, let individual drinkers add their own.[8]

  3. Add the milk or alternative milk. If you like, you can use plant-based milk.[9] Milk helps to reduce the tea’s bitterness.[10]
